Lottery vs Direct Donation

When you play the lottery, 50% of your ticket price goes to good causes — and you enter our weekly prize draw. A direct donation means 100% of your money goes straight to community programmes, with no prize element. Both make a real difference.

I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
